Myofascial Release Technique

Have a loss of range of motion in the neck, shoulder, knee, hip, low back or other area of the body? Myofascial release technique is very useful with a joint, or joints, that have a loss of range of motion due to muscle tightness or spasm. The goals of myofascial release is to increase range of motion by relaxing contracted muscles, stimulating the lymphatic drainage, increasing circulation and stimulation the stretch reflex of muscles.

The most common myofascial release is performed on fascia which is the soft tissue portion of the connective tissue that provides support for most of our structures in our body, specifically the muscles. Any psychogenic disease, overuse, trauma or inactivity can result into diffuse muscle pain which causes muscle tension slowing blood flow to the area. With myofascial release the muscle receiving treatment is taken through its function while the doctor applies pressure essentially stripping the fascia off of the muscle. This treatment is extremely effective in restoring proper function.

It is not uncommon for those receiving this treatment to feel significantly better after one treatment. We provide ART myofascial release and have performed it on many muscles with the most popular being on the shoulder. We also do PNF stretching with a variation of myofasical release.
